Sacher– a name that all the world's chocolate lovers will recognise! Bolzano has the first, and currently the only, Sacher Shop outside the borders of Austria, home of the Sacher brand. Located in the beautiful historic quarter of Bolzano, it is run by the D'Onofrio family together with the adjacent Stadt Hotel Città. The owners' active interest in the excellent chocolate products made by Sacher is shared by an increasing number of passionate connoisseurs.
Vienna, 1832. According to the legend, Franz Sacher, a young trainee chef working at the court of Prince Metternich, was forced to improvise a special dessert for a number of distinguished guests when the head chef suddenly fell ill. He created a delicate and slightly spiced chocolate cake with an apricot jam filling and a rich chocolate glaze. The guests were bowled over by his creation. The cake came to be known as Sacher Cake and soon became very famous and requested by all noble families at high society gatherings
The "Original Sacher-Torte" is a soft chocolate cake, filled with a layer of apricot jam and covered with a rich chocolate glaze. The cakes are made exclusively by the Sacher patisserie in Vienna and packaged in original wooden boxes that preserve their quality and provide a lovely gift presentation. The Original Sacher-Torte contains only natural ingredients and is free of preservatives.
The name and the product are registered internationally and there are no retail licences.
